Carnivore; frozen shrimp and thawed silverside fish. It is possible that some may first need to be coaxed into eating using live shrimp, but is very uncommon.

Facts
This lion is considered reef safe with caution. Reason being is that while the Lionfish is likely to eat and inverts and smaller fish they are not interested in coral. They are semi-aggressive but safe to keep with larger fish. It is important to note that Lionfish have venomous spines and caution should be taken to note where the Lionfish is prior to tank maintenance.
