Facts
The Pearl Gourami is a shy, peaceful fish that should be housed with fish species of similar temperaments and sizes as they can be bullied easily by other aggressive fish, leading to starvation. The males are redder and have a longer and more pointed dorsal fin than the females. They do best in a well-planted tank that includes floating plants. The Gouramis are labyrinth fish, meaning they have poorly developed gills, and need easy access to the water surface so that they can breathe using their unique breathing organ, the labyrinthine.
