Facts
The Chocolate Gourami is a shy, slow-moving fish that does best in pairs and should be housed with smaller fish species of similar temperament. Males have more pointed dorsal fins and a more defined yellow edge to their caudal fins than females. This Gourami is prone to skin and bacteria parasites and requires excellent water quality with regular water changes. They do best in a well-planted tank, that includes floating plants, with peat in the substrate. The Gouramis are labyrinth fish, meaning that they have poorly developed gills, and need easy access to the water surface so that they can breathe using their unique breathing organ, the labyrinthine.
