Platies are a peaceful fish and a great addition to a community tank with other peaceful fish. They prefer an aquarium with plants like Java Ferns and Moss. They are hardy and good for beginners. Platies are livebearers and can reproduce at around three to four months of age. Males are smaller and more brightly coloured than females. (Xiphophorus maculatus) |
