Euphellia
Euphellia Corals are a large polyp stony (LPS) coral and are also known as Torch Corals. They have a skeletal base that grows and branches. At the end of a branch, there are its “head” and is where the tentacles are seen. The tentacles are long and narrow in shape and are bunched together. They expand during the day which flow and sway with the water current, and retract into the skeletal base at night. They are moderate in difficulty to keep. They like moderate lighting levels and waterflow, and need proper amounts of calcium and alkalinity to thrive. As these elements are absorbed, the skeletal base grows and more heads will appear. They are aggressive with their ability to sting other corals and should spaced apart from different corals. They get most of their nutrition through photosynthesis, but can benefit by being fed zooplankton and Arcti-pods.
