Otocinclus vestitus

Tan body with black speckling

Growth Size
4" | 10.2 cm

Minimum Tank Size
10 gal. | 37.9 L

Care Level

Herbivore; a heavily planted aquarium that has some algae should be sufficient to nourish the Otocinclus, but if algae is not present you should ensure a healthy diet by feeding a high-quality vegetable-based flake or wafer.

The Otocinclus Catfish requires a very well-planted tank with rocks and driftwood to provide plenty of hiding spaces. They are very social and need to be kept in groups. In addition to being a great community tank fish, they do a superb job at keeping unwanted algae at bay by eating any algae that develops on the glass or plants.
